Zeta Alpha Sigma Undergraduate Scholarship

Scholarship Application Submission Deadline – April 24, 2020

PURPOSE: The goal of Zeta Alpha Sigma Chapter is to award a $250 Scholarship to an Undergraduate Student in Georgia who encompasses the belief of community service, civil, and social action to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, health awareness, and leadership development.

ELIGIBILITY:
– Must be an undergraduate student in Georgia
– Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
– Must submit a 2-3 page essay on The Importance of Community Service Involvement, college transcript, and current photo (for publication if awarded scholarship)

TIMELINE:
– Scholarship Application Submission Deadline: April 24, 2020
– Scholarship Winner Announced: May 01, 2020
– Scholarship Award Presentation: May 16, 2020
– Disbursement of Funds to College or University: July 31, 2020

PURPOSE: The goal of Zeta Alpha Sigma Chapter is to award a Scholarship to an Undergraduate Sigma Woman in Georgia who actively participates and believes in community service, civil, and social action. S.I.G.M.A. Foundation of GA Scholarship

Scholarship Application Submission Deadline – March 27, 2020

The SFG Scholarship is hosted by the S.I.G.M.A. Foundation of Georgia, Inc., a
501©(3) nonprofit, and was established by the membership of the Zeta Alpha
Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. The scholarship’s mission is to
recognize and provide financial assistance to outstanding college bound high
school seniors who have demonstrated a willingness to further their educational
goals by continuing their secondary education.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a high school senior attending an accredited high school in the state of
Georgia
• Be a U.S. citizen and have permanent residence in the state of Georgia
• Plan to be enrolled full-time at an accredited 4-year college or university
based in the United States (excluding proprietary and online schools)
• Have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale
• Be able to provide an official high school transcript
• Submit an essay using one of the approved topics (The essay response
should be no less than 1,000 and no more than 1,200 words. The essay
should be created and submitted as a MS Word unprotected document).

Completed Applications must be submitted electronically by March 27, 2020 to
sigmafofga@gmail.com. Transcripts may be emailed to the same email or be
mailed to P.O. Box 491091 College Park GA 30349. A cover page is required which
includes the requested information found later in the application.

Approved Essay Topics (Choose only one topic from the following):

I. Describe any act(s) of kindness you have demonstrated and how this act
has affected yourself and others.
II. Describe one community service project you have been involved in that
changed your life in a meaningful way.
III. Describe any goals that you may have for using your prospective degree to
advance your level of service to the community and why this is important.
IV. Describe why you believe the attainment of a college or university
education is important to you and why it matters for the wider community.

Join the members and affiliates of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. as we travel to the Georgia State Capitol for Legislative Day 2019. During this event, attendees will have the opportunity to view the state congressional leaders in session, lobby their respective elected representative and hear about issues that are plaguing Georgia communities. This will be day of reflection and social action. This event is open to all Sorority members, Philos and Rhoers! The event is free of charge, however pre-registration is required. There will be an open bar, refreshments, and your favorite tunes from DJ Sings. We will be partying at the Dynasty Event Lounge in West Midtown; free parking available. Cocktail attire is encouraged. We must stress to others, especially our youth, that voting also affect theirs. Remember mid-term elections are included.
